The Masters of Science in Environmental Management program focuses on dynamics and processes that impact the functionality and sustainability of natural and human systems. These explorations take place in the context of public policy, management, problem solving and leadership. You will cover a variety of methods, skills, and tools in the application of systems thinking and sustainability to a variety of current environmental issues; building on your existing environmental skills and knowledge base acquired in your past learning and life experience. You will also have the opportunity to delve deeply into a research topic of your personal concern by way of completing a thesis.
What is an interdisciplinary program?
In this program, you can be enrolled either in the MA or the MSc stream. Which qualification you choose and which you are eligible for is dependent both on your goals for your program and your previous experiences. However, the program is a shared experience that integrates the science and social science disciplines together to consider real word issues and opportunities. What is most important for tackling some of the significant environmental challenges we are currently facing is that we take an interdisciplinary view that brings multiple perspectives to bear on a problem in a meaningful way.
Who It's For
The Masters of Science in Environment and Management is designed for anyone who is pursuing a career path that involves practical environmental issues, challenges, and concerns. This includes those from all levels of government, business, industry, consulting and non-governmental organizations who want to gain skills and credentials as environmental leaders and managers to advance in their current career or launch a new one. Students represent a broad cross-section of the environmental sector and this diversity and wealth of knowledge is an important component of the program’s philosophy.
