Admission Requirements

ICM offers foundation as well as pathways to an undergraduate degree at the University of Manitoba. The UTP Stage II programs are the equivalent to the first year of the University's Bachelor's Degree. Upon successful completion of UTPII, students transfer into the second year of their degree at the University of Manitoba.*

* To progress to the second year at the University of Manitoba you must successfully complete 30 credit hours of advanced standing, meet the required GPA and satisfy the relevant entry requirements.

ICM provides international students a pathway to year two at the University of Manitoba. The ICM pathway provides a smooth transition into the U of M. University designed programs, taught by qualified instructors on the main U of M Campus, ensure that ICM students have the very best preparation for the demands of higher education in Canada. ICM students are treated like university students and, with the added benefits of smaller classes, students receive more personalized attention in a dynamic and supportive environment that better equips them for life at the U of M.

**When you come to ICM with a student visa, you are not allowed to work before you progress to the main program at the University of Manitoba.

**Academic Requirement for English Medium students stay the same regardless of the country of residence.

Other Requirements

You must have successfully completed physics, chemistry and mathematics (preferably calculus) at a Year 12 level (or equivalent) with a 75 percent average overall and a score of no less than 70 percent for any course.

UTP Stage II: Engineering is equivalent to the first year of the University of Manitoba's Bachelor of Science (Engineering) degree. As the oldest engineering school in Western Canada, the Faculty of Engineering prepares graduates for leadership roles with a focus on design-readiness and teamwork.

 

To be eligible to progress to the second year in the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Manitoba, you must complete a minimum of 10 courses in the first year program (30 credit hours). Click on the link below to find out the names of courses that you can take at UTP-II:-

Each course must be completed with a minimum grade of C. Engineering is a highly competitive faculty. Please see admission statistics for international students here: http://umanitoba.ca/faculties/engineering/undergraduate_studies/ugs_admission_statistics.html 

 

For entry to the Faculty of Engineering, you must complete university admission requirements by the deadline posted on the University of Manitoba’s Admissions page for Engineering. These requirements must be completed before this deadline to be considered for admission in September of that same year. If you miss this deadline, you may enrol in more courses at ICM or register in the Faculty of Science on an interim basis in preparation for the next intake the following year.


Details will be provided on an individual basis each term, and you will be advised on selecting courses to maximize your credit transfer entitlements. Entrance to Engineering departmental programs is competitive and the minimum GPA required will vary by year and by specific specialization. Admissions is also subject to quotas. At least 95 percent of all University of Manitoba Engineering graduates get jobs after graduation.
A co-operative education program is available to students.
